I haven't blogged the past couple of days because I was so close to reaching my goal that I didn't want to report back until I had. It's been a busy week but on day 21, I "finished" my story but was below 50,000 words. I figured this might happen because I often go back and plump up the more skeletal sections of my writing. I am stilling doing this as we speak but I had to let everyone know that I passed 50,000 words! I have now officially "won" National Novel Writing Month! I am still adding, so my word count will keep growing. I still consider this a first draft because I'm not really editing yet. I have fixed a few sentences but I am mostly just boosting the information that I skipped over in my excitement to move onto certain scenes. Here's where I stand as of right now:
Words Written on Days 21-23: 2,976
Total Words Written: 50,023
Winning technically begins November 25th so my novel will be even larger when I "validate it." However, I have proved that I can do what I set my mind to. I have a novel!
This is how I feel right now!
